We were first in line outside the Showbox for the doors to open, and we hung out with
sun_and_sand,
jclaggett, and we'd brought David, Sarah's younger brother with us as he's going away to college in about a week. What we failed to realize is that the show was 21+, which meant that I had to drive David home and he couldn't see the show... which was very very sad, and rather ironic, as the only reason I went to the free show where I met Sarah was because I was 20 and a half and couldn't get into the record release show... at the Showbox, and the band recommended I go to the free show at Tower Records. Anyways, it was very sad that David couldn't come, but he was more concerned about us missing the show than anything else. He's such an awesome guy.

I finally got in the club before the 2 opening bands. First up was a guy named Owen and his little guitar. The thing was somewhere between a real acoustic guitar and a ukelele, but it was pretty nice very mellow sweet singer-songwriter acoustic stuff.

Next up was a band from Portland called My Life In Black And White. These guys are to country music what Flogging Molly are to irish folk music. Loud, raucous punk country. They were totally awesome. Really high energy, and they'd brought a bunch of their fans up from Portland with them and they totally rocked our socks off. DEFINITELY check them out. Oh, and the drummer had a tattoo of a kid's drawing of a drum kit on his stomach which amused us greatly, as did the scissor tattoo around his neck.

Finally the main event. Goodness came out to great cheers from the crowd. 2 songs into it and sections of the crowd were feeling a little overly... um... drunk... and someone threw a bottle onstage. Garth, the rhythm guitarist decided that that wasn't neighborly behaviour, put down his guitar mid-song, jumped off the stage, and bounced homy out of the club, then got back up on stage and finished the song. It was pretty awesome and he got an extra cheer from the crowd. The rest of the evening flowed very smoothly with Goodness playing a totally rocking set laced with songs from all 4 of their albums, and even a brand new song!
An exciting piece of news is that my photos from the event are going to be published on the totally awesome local music site Three Imaginary Girls! I met Dana as the show was ending, and she said she was going to blog the show and asked if she could use some of my photos. I said sure and then she told me who she was blogging for, and I was like "oh HELL yeah!", so as soon as the review is up, I'll let ya'all know. And there's a possibility of doing more photos at shows for them, which has me bouncing in my chair just thinking of it.
My only complaint about the nite was they didn't play "our song", Turn The World Around, but hey, you can't have everything! It's impossible to be disappointed by an awesome Goodness show!!

Actually.. I was just taking photos for me, but Dana from Three Imaginary Girls approached me right before the band came out for the Encore and asked if she could use the pictures on her post. I'm so giddy and excited about that!!
